3:33⅓ - Chris Potter - Sunrise and Joshua Trees

Like a rank amateur I played the wrong side of this record on Jazz88. For some reason I have the strong feeling that if one side of an actual record has more words on the label and more information that should be side A. Well that policy was not correct today. So the radio heard about the first six minutes of Sunrise Reprise, the 20 plus minute song that rocks out on side B of said record. A simple flip of the record gave me the information I needed cause I saw all the groove markings for new tracks. Whelp. The music still sounded stunning. In the before streaming era and even before big Itunes library era, you just listened to the records you did have a boatload. I had a Chris Potter record called Vertigo and it got all the spins. I didn’t know that the dude was already on his way to being one of the most celebrated saxophonists and writers of his generation. I just new I dug his record. But happy to play some of the man’s music and share it with the world. It’s Jazz Appreciation Month. So you better appreciate it this month.
