Do you know who Ian Martin Allison is? He’s a super talented bassist. I watched his video about the Jackson5 song “I Want You Back”. I had never played that bass line before and it was such a joy to learn it. And in the video Ian mentioned that he loved that the bass player is not the icon James Jamerson, but rather a session musician best known for his work on saxophone. That’s right, Wilton Felder is an icon on two relatively unrelated instruments. Magical. So I had to spin this one today on Jazz88.
