Richard ‘Groove’ Holmes was born on May 2, 1931 in Camden, New Jersey. Always new him as one of the big ones in the world of organ jazz and I got to say, when you hear him he just sounds joyous behind the instrument. And although I’m frequently drawn to the funkier side of organ jazz, I really enjoy Groove Holmes in swing situations as well. That’s it!
